The area that is now Arizona was inhabited by Native Americans thousands of years before Europeans arrived. The Hohokam, Anasazi and Mogollon were early settlements. The Cochise lived in what is now called Arizona from about 5,000 years ago to the early part of the first century.
Each tribe's land is a sovereign nation with its own government and laws. Be respectful. There are many sacred areas that are not open to non-tribal members.
